Dear Guilford College Community:
As you are aware, colleges and universities around the world are adapting and making responsible, but challenging choices. I am writing with some important updates regarding the completion of the Spring 2020 semester.

For Students in Residence
Students currently on campus must leave their residence halls and apartments by Saturday, March 21 at noon, though our staff are supporting students to leave sooner, if possible. Only students who secure an exception from Student Affairs will be allowed to remain on campus. Dean of Students Steve Mencarini will be in direct contact with instructions on these processes and providing support.
All employees who can work remotely must begin doing so as soon as possible. Faculty are already doing this with their students for their courses. Staff should consult with their supervisors to understand their requirements to either work remotely or continue reporting to campus. More specific guidance for staff and their supervisors will be communicated as soon as possible.
At this time, we will need to postpone commencement, scheduled for May 16, to a later date. Although this is one of the most special days for everyone in our community, I want to take a moment and speak directly to our most impacted students. Seniors, I know this is very disappointing. I am committed to doing everything I can to create a meaningful experience to honor you, celebrate your accomplishments, and meet your family and friends. We will have this day together and I will be sharing more information in the weeks ahead.
To all Guilfordians, I appreciate your patience during these disruptive times. The light of Guilford College has shone brightly for nearly two centuries. Each one of us can take hope and inspiration from those whose courage and commitment guides our path forward in these uncertain times.
